What if the off-season was the best time to discover the Uzège region?

As summer gently draws to a close, something changes here.

The days are barely getting shorter. The evenings are cooler. In the villages, the terraces are slowly emptying and the markets are returning to their usual rhythm. The roads are quieter.

This is the moment we particularly love.

The one where you can go for a walk without looking at your watch, take a bike and follow a small road between the vineyards, stop in a village, push open the door of a workshop or simply go do some shopping at the Uzès market.

And then go home.

At Mas des Sages, the day can continue peacefully in the garden. A book, a drink, a chair in the shade.

Or nothing at all.

Le Mas des Sages, in Aubussargues

We are in Aubussargues, a small village in the Gard region, about ten minutes from Uzès. Le Mas is an old 18th-century residence, which we have gradually transformed into a guest house.

We have three guest rooms, including a family suite, and a cottage for four people .

We enjoy welcoming travellers who want to discover the Uzège region, but also those who simply come looking for a few days of peace and quiet.

We don't plan a set itinerary. We know the roads, the small villages, the markets, the producers, and the best places to stop. So, depending on the season and your preferences, we suggest what we would do in your place.

Walk, discover, taste

Autumn is a beautiful season to explore the area around Uzès.

The scrubland, the vineyards, the olive groves, the paths that connect the villages. There are easy walks and hikes that require a bit more effort. Everyone chooses their own pace.

From Mas des Sages, some walks can be started directly on foot or by bike. For others, a short drive is all it takes.

It is also the grape harvest season, and soon it will be the olive harvest season.

At the markets, you can find the products of the moment. A Pélardon cheese, some vegetables, olive oil, a bottle of wine.

Here, the landscape often ends up on the plate.

Uzès is very close, with its market and narrow streets. The Pont du Gard is also nearby. And in the surrounding area, there are many villages where you can spend an hour or a day, depending on your mood.

Nîmes, Avignon and the Cévennes are also accessible from the Mas for a day of discovery.

The Mas des Sages

We tried to preserve something of the Mas's history and character.

Bed and breakfasts are all different from one another.

The Sirona is bright.
The Damona is cozier, with an invitation to travel.
Epona is our family suite.

All rooms have a private bathroom.

The cottage, for four people , is located on the first floor of the house. It is accessed via the garden, by a stone staircase. It is arranged over two levels and has air conditioning.

The swimming pool is shared between the bed and breakfast rooms and the cottage. When the season allows, the garden is a place where one simply enjoys relaxing.

And in the morning, for stays in bed and breakfasts, we prepare breakfast.

No grand presentation. Products we love, a few good things to taste, and time to start the day peacefully.

A guest house near Uzès

Mas des Sages is located in Aubussargues, in the Gard, about ten minutes from Uzès and near the Pont du Gard, in the heart of Occitanie.

People can come to discover the Uzège region, to walk, to cycle, to visit the villages and Roman sites in the surrounding area.

Or to do very little.

It's often a little bit of all of that at once.
